4 Steps to Achieve Your Habit Goals More Easily
Achieving your habit goals takes more than just planning.
You are all set to achieve your habit goal. Or maybe you finally decided to address that annoying habit!
You’ve been talking about it for a long time and, now you feel good because now you have a deadline. Therefore, in your mind, you are already on your path to success. Right?
Since now you know a thing or two about goal setting, you also achieved two crucial milestones required for this new habit formation.
- Got a clearly defined goal
- Now you have a deadline for yourself to achieve this goal
You’ve got all this handled…Isn’t it?
We have been taught that making a decision is the half-battle won. Isn’t it? Therefore whether you’re trying to break an old habit or instill a new one, you believe that if you make a positive decision toward change, you are already halfway there. But sadly, more often than not, these goals fall by the wayside in a fairly short time.
The problem with goal-setting is that you are focusing on the wrong goal. We say we want to lose 25 pounds by swimsuit season or to stop smoking by Christmas. But do you have a plan in place to achieve it? Without a plan to make it happen, nothing is going to change. Even if you have what seems like a reasonable timeline in place.
What you forgot was how to make a plan! A roadmap for getting there.
So, what can you do?
Quick Navigation
- 1. Break down the task into small goals
- 2. Add those tasks to your schedule.
- 3. Track your Progress.
- 4. Don’t worry about the end date.

If your goal is to lose those 25 pounds, how are you going to do it?
Maybe you want to exercise more and watch your diet. Therefore make a goal for each week instead. For this particular goal, it might mean replacing a meal with a protein shake every day and going to the gym three times a week.

3. Track your Progress.
Change is slow, and at a times looks like nothing is moving.
Having a visual cue will help you see that, you are making positive strides toward your goal.
Remember those sticker charts we had as children? They work on adults too. Habit trackers make it easier for you to see the progress you made and keep you motivated to continue taking action towards the awesome life you desire.
4. Don’t worry about the end date.
As long as you are consistent in your practice and following the schedule there is no need to worry about the end date.
Maybe progress might not be as fast as you’d like. The fact that you’re making progress means you’re heading in the right direction. Keep going!
>> Track and analyze your result
You can change habits with time and effort. In this case though…it’s more about the journey than the destination. Make a solid plan and whatever your goal, you’ll get there!
