Why is forming successful habit is important for you ?

You want more from life and decided that you are ready to make changes. To make it happen, you know that you will need to adopt certain success habits. You made a list of them. 

You’ve even decided on your goal. 

Now what? 

What can you do to ensure that you achieve success? 


Well, there are certain rules in place. If you follow them, they will ensure that you are

forming successful habit.

Success habits are not an accident but a deliberate creation! They are designed by choice and hard work. Creating a plan will increase the chances of successfully internalizing a new habit.

The first step is to set your goal. Especially when you are trying to stop or break a habit, you should try to phrase your goal as a positive statement. For example, instead of saying “I will quit snacking at night”, say “I will practice healthy eating habits”. You should also write down your goal. Committing it to paper helps you to affirm it in your mind. It can also help if you tell your goal to someone you trust.


Think of the plan like a roadmap. Include your starting point, the final goal, and all the steps along the way. Don’t forget to note down potential stumbling blocks and how you will overcome them.


Decide on a replacement behavior. (If your goal is to develop a new habit then your replacement behavior will be the goal itself.) This step is very important when you are trying to break a habit. If you want to stop a behavior, you must have a superior behavior to put in its place. If you don’t, the old behavior pattern will return.


Many people include a vision board in their planning. It is a great way to see what your goal looks like. Place it somewhere that you will see regularly and reinforce the goal you want to achieve.


Commitment and inspiration

100% commitment is required from your side when you are creating a new habit. If you are not, then the chances of succeeding in attaining it reduce dramatically and drastically.  


Your self-belief plays an important role here. It is important to believe that you will create your new habit and to be able to see yourself doing it.


Write down a positive statement that affirms you have created your new habit.


For example, if you want to create the successful habit of waking early then your affirmation could be something like this.


‘I wake at 5.00 am every day refreshed and ready to start my day! I use my extra time to run for 20 minutes and to eat a healthy breakfast. 30 minutes I read an inspiring book because I know that it helps me improve my knowledge and keep me pumped. Before I start my work I make sure that I plan my day and make sure that I know which tasks are important for helping me to achieve my goal.’

Know Yourself

Self-knowledge is crucial to creating new habits, as well as eliminating old ones. Because only you know yourself better. You know what will move you and what will slack you.


You need to understand your strengths and weaknesses.


Learn and be aware of your triggers. Behavior patterns don’t exist independently. Often, one habit is associated with another part of your regular routine. For instance, in the snacking example, the trigger may be late-night television or reading. You automatically grab a bag of chips while you watch. Many people who smoke automatically light up after eating. Think about when and why you do the thing you want to quit.


It is crucial to know where you are right now, where you want to be and what needs to change.


By knowing yourself, you can create a growth mindset. It ensures that you understand that action is important, as by taking action you create change which leads to success.


Practice, Practice, Practice

As per recent studies, habits take 66 days to become routine.  


This means that you need to consciously incorporate time into every day to practice your new habit.


To ensure that you complete the full 66 days you need to plan and you need to identify any potential stumbling points that may cause you to want to skip a day. Knowing what might interfere in your daily habit practice ensures that you can put plans in place to overcome it.


Post reminders to yourself. You can do this by leaving yourself notes in the places where the behavior usually occurs. Or you can leave yourself a message on the mirror, refrigerator, computer monitor, or some other place where you will see it regularly. You can also have a family member or co-worker use a particular phrase to remind you of your goal.


Get help and support from someone. This is kind of obvious. Any job is easier with help. It works even better if you can form a partnership with someone who shares the same goal.


Write daily affirmation. Write your phrase or sentence in the present tense (as if it were already happening), and write it ten times a day for 66 days. This process helps make your goal a part of your subconscious, which will not only remind you to practice the new behavior but also keeps you focused and motivated.

A positive mindset is key as is commitment. You are committed to creating the new success habit and understand why it is important to your overall plans and goals. This will help you to overcome stumbling blocks and ensure that you practice your new habit every day until it becomes a routine part of your daily life.


When your have efficient and enjoyable routine, its easy to stick to it. Rather you look forward to it.


Reward yourself


When you set out to create a new success habit you have your plan for how you are going to achieve it and what your life will look like once that happens. 


Don’t forget to build in a reward for yourself for keeping your words. Make it something that you truly want and value. It doesn’t have to be big but must be important to you. 


Reward yourself for making progress at set time intervals. Focus on your goal one day at a time, but give yourself a small treat at one, three, and six months. The rewards don’t have to be big or expensive, and you should try to make it something that’s associated in some way with the goal. Doing this provides you with both incentive and extra motivation.


By planning a reward when you have created your new habit you will be more emotionally invested in creating the habit.


Write down your reward or get a picture of it and put it somewhere where you will see it every day. 


This will reinforce the desire to succeed and strengthen your motivation to achieve your goal.


By using the five rules above you will be creating the right mental attitude towards creating a new success habit. 


Don’t try to create too many new habits at once. Take it easy. Building one habit at a time is a simpler and realistic way to achieve excellence.
